The building that is the home of Riders Crossing tack shop is found on the national historical register. The history of our store is a long one. Originally the building was a post office and general store built in 1791 by Benjamin Mix. The original store was thought to be smaller and incorporated in the existing building.
Pictured here in 1955, before the existence of modern malls, local children would "hang out" at the general store.
The general store was operated by the Olsen family until 1969. Debbie has restored the building to it's original beauty and kept the original architectural details and trimmings. Once you enter Riders Crossing Tack Shop, you can feel the history of this wonderful building.
